Explosive. Radical. Hated. Loved. Unwelcomed. Embraced. Inevitable.
Sponsored tweets.
Not a new concept for those who’ve been blogging for a while. New and reprehensible to many tweeters. Mashable says sponsored tweets are “the end of Twitter as we know it.” Ted Murphy, creator of the immensely popular IZEAfest, says there’s a good way to do sponsored tweets. In fact, he makes a case for sponsored tweets actually adding value to the twitterverse.
Love him or hate him (though there’s really no reason to hate him), you’ll enjoy Ted’s incredible enthusiasm, energy, and optimism about the future. In all of my interactions with him before the show, I was impressed with his commitment to listening intently and then boldly creating.
Whether sponsored tweets flourishes or fails, Ted Murphy’s experiment is a catalyst that will take social media to the next level—if not to Web 3.0, at least to Web 2.5.
Of course Ted’s active on Twitter.
